Ce que nous mesurons

Ce que signifient les chiffres pour Valorant

Ping in Valorant

Ping is the round trip from you to the server and back. Valorant judges every action server-side: your shot, your ability, your flash all have to arrive before the fight resolves. Low ping means your swing reaches the server close to when you saw the enemy — high ping hands the other player the same advantage against you. As general guidance, under 40 ms feels responsive and under 20 ms is ideal; these figures are guidance, not measurements of Riot’s servers.

Jitter in Valorant

Jitter is how much ping varies between consecutive samples. In a game built on timing — re-peeking an angle, timing a flash, tapping a Sheriff — a connection that swings between 20 ms and 90 ms is worse than a steady 60 ms, because you can never calibrate when your inputs land. Keep jitter under 10 ms (general guidance) and your peeks stay predictable.

Packet loss in Valorant

Packet loss is traffic that never arrives and has to be retransmitted. Even a burst during a duel shows up as a shot that looked dead-on yet did nothing, or a rubber-band that moves you back into a held angle. Valorant tolerates small, rare losses, but anything you can see or feel mid-round deserves attention. Target: 0%.

Régions de serveurs et chiffres visés pour les joueurs indiens

Valorant’s client lets you choose from the server regions available to your account. Indian players typically use Mumbai or Singapore when available — open the server selector in your client for the live list. We do not measure Riot’s servers; every figure on this page is general guidance, not measured game-server latency.

Pourquoi le ping de Valorant grimpe soudainement

01

Something is downloading

Steam or Riot client updates, cloud backups, a console updating in the other room — any big transfer fills your router’s queue and your ping climbs with it. This test’s “under load” row shows exactly that effect: the same measurement taken while your pipe is full.

02

You are playing on Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi shares airtime with neighbours, microwaves and every other device in the flat. Average ping can look fine while brief interference spikes add jitter exactly when a round gets tense. Wireless problems come and go — which is why a mid-round spike with full signal bars is so common.

03

Your client picked a different region

If the server region changes between sessions — a lobby in another region, a settings change, or automatic selection — your baseline ping shifts with it. Check the server selector in your client’s settings: the region shown there determines what this test’s numbers mean for your matches.

04

Peak-hour congestion

Evening hours put shared tower and broadband capacity under pressure in dense neighbourhoods. A morning test reading 25 ms and an evening test reading 70 ms from the same spot is congestion, not a broken line — run this test at both hours to see your own pattern.

Wi-Fi et Valorant

Wi-Fi rarely changes your average ping much, but it changes your worst ping a lot — and rounds are lost on the worst moment. For Valorant, wired ethernet is the clean fix; if that is not possible, sit on 5 GHz close to the router (walls and distance cost both speed and stability), keep the band uncrowded, and retest on Wi-Fi versus mobile data with this tool to see which link is steadier. The difference you are looking for shows up in jitter and the “under load” row, not just the headline ping.

Étapes concrètes

Résoudre le lag sur Valorant — cinq étapes

  1. Étape 1

    Measure before you change anything

Run this test once on the connection you play on, then once more on an alternative (Wi-Fi vs mobile data, or near the router). You are establishing a baseline — fixes are only provable against numbers.

  2. Étape 2

    Freeze your region

Open Valorant’s settings and set your server region deliberately rather than leaving it to change. Note which region you play on, then compare this test’s ping against what you see on the scoreboard — they should be in the same ballpark.

  3. Étape 3

    Stop background transfers during play

Pause client updates, cloud backups and platform downloads before ranked. If someone else in the house must download, ask them to start it after your session — or enable QoS/SQM on the router so their transfer cannot fill your queue.

  4. Étape 4

Go wired, or clean up the wireless

Ethernet is the durable answer. On Wi-Fi: 5 GHz only, router out in the open, away from fridges and microwave ovens, ideally with line-of-sight to where you play. Then retest — jitter should drop visibly.

  5. Étape 5

    Take evidence to your ISP

If a wired test still shows idle ping above 80 ms to your chosen region, or jitter above 30 ms with nothing running, that is a support ticket: include this test’s numbers, the time of day, and your region. Numbers get triaged faster than “my ping is bad”.

VPN et latence sur Valorant

A VPN adds a detour: your traffic goes to the VPN server first, then to the game, so in the common case your ping goes up, not down. The exception is routing — if your ISP’s path to your chosen region is unusually poor, a VPN that routes better can genuinely lower latency. The honest method is measurement: run this test without the VPN, then with it, and keep whichever is lower and steadier. Check the rules of any tournament or service you play in before connecting through one.

Images par seconde vs connexion

Réseau adapté au jeu en ligne

Le nombre d’images réel dépend du matériel de votre appareil

FPS and ping answer different questions. FPS is how many frames per second your machine renders — decided by your CPU, GPU, RAM, resolution, graphics settings, driver state and thermals. Ping is how long the network takes to carry an action to the server and back. A fibre line will not lift a struggling PC from 60 to 144 fps, and a monster gaming rig cannot fix a 150 ms ping. Lowering Valorant’s graphics settings raises FPS on your hardware; nothing on this page changes that, and nothing in your graphics settings changes the numbers measured here.

FAQ

Ping Valorant — questions fréquentes

What ping do I need for Valorant?

As general guidance (not measured game-server latency): under 40 ms feels responsive, under 20 ms is ideal, and above 80 ms starts to hand peekers a visible advantage. Consistency matters as much as the headline number — jitter under 10 ms and 0% packet loss keep fights fair. Test with the tool above, then compare it against the ping you see on Valorant’s scoreboard.

Why is my ping high in Valorant suddenly?

The usual suspects in order: something downloading in the house (updates, backups), your client connected to a different server region than yesterday, Wi-Fi interference, or peak-hour congestion. Establish which by running this test twice — once idle, once while a download runs — and by checking the selected server region in your client settings.

Is Wi-Fi or ethernet better for Valorant?

Ethernet, consistently: it removes airtime contention, interference and roaming from the path, which shows up as lower jitter and far fewer spikes. If you must use Wi-Fi, sit on 5 GHz near the router and compare with this test — look at jitter and the “under load” row, not just average ping.

Does download speed affect Valorant?

Not your frame rate, and barely your in-match play — Valorant’s in-game traffic is tiny; even a 10 Mbps line carries it comfortably. Download speed matters for client updates and patches. FPS depends on your hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM, settings, thermals), while ping and jitter depend on the network — this test measures the network side only.

Does a VPN lower ping in Valorant?

Usually not: a VPN inserts a detour, which typically adds latency. It can help when your ISP’s route to your chosen server region is unusually bad — the only way to know is to measure, with and without, using this test. Keep the lower, steadier result, and check tournament or service rules before playing through a VPN.
